Hop on your boat and cast your line into your favorite fishing spot in a joint celebration for National Fishing and Boating Week from Saturday, June 1st until Sunday, June 9th!
The purpose of this holiday week is to increase the enjoyment of fishing and boating while promoting environmental stewardship. This provides the perfect reason to get out on the water and it’s a great opportunity to relax, laugh, reconnect, and create memories with your family and friends. Studies show that outdoor recreation makes people feel more satisfied with life, strengthens their family unit and provides reason to care about natural resources.
National Fishing and Boating Week always falls on the first full week of June. It has been observed since 2001 and was proclaimed by George W. Bush in 2002. During this week, certain states offer free fishing passes to anglers to allow them to fish on public sites without a fishing license. Unfortunately, South Carolina does not participate in the free fishing days for National Fishing and Boating Week. They do however allow it on Independence Day so mark your calendars! *remember: the same fishing regulations still apply during the free fishing days*
